Barnluren Pioneer Program

Pioneer Round 1 is full!

The response has been overwhelming — all spots in our first pioneer round have been filled. We are now accepting registrations of interest for Round 2, which we expect to open in approximately 6 weeks. Register below and we will be in touch.

What is Barnluren?

Barnluren is a private phone network designed specifically for children. We built Barnluren so our children can build social independence without a smartphone or social media.

With Barnluren your child uses a regular analog phone. You just plug it into the small Barnluren device which connects to your home WiFi. Your child can then dial and be called by the contacts you approve - this can be other Barnluren phones, or people you invite to use the Barnluren app.

Which brings us to the second part of the network. We have built a free app that you can invite family such as grandparents or aunts and uncles to use. It's completely free and allows family to call your child's Barnluren phone and for your child to call them. This neatly bridges the analog and digital worlds, allowing your child to keep in touch with all the people that matter to them, and no one else.

Our hope is that your children will be able to experience the joys of simply talking to friends on the phone, exactly as those of us who grew up before smartphones did.

Frequently asked questions

Who can apply?

Any parent with a child aged 5-12 who has a network of families they could share with — typically through school or neighbourhood friendships.

What's the commitment?

Everything is free for 3 months. After that, you can choose to continue at a 50% lifetime discount (20 SEK/month). If you decide it's not for you, simply return the device — no obligations.

How are pioneers selected?

We're looking for families with an active local network — parents who know other parents and whose children have friends they'd love to call. We'll review applications and reach out personally.

Do I need to supply a phone?

Yes — the Barnluren adapter connects to any analog telephone with tone dialling. You might have one in the attic, find one at a second-hand shop, or pick up an inexpensive cordless phone.

How does my child make a call?

Every person on the Barnluren network gets their own number. Your child dials the number on their phone — just like a classic landline. If they call a friend with a Barnluren, that friend's phone rings at home. If they call you, your mobile rings through the Barnluren app, just like a FaceTime or WhatsApp call. To call your child, you simply tap the call button in the app. Children use a phone book or memorise their friends' and family's numbers — no screen needed.

When will I hear back?

We'll review applications as they come in and respond within a week. Selected pioneers will be contacted for a personal conversation before receiving their devices.
