Terms of Service

⚠ Important: Not a Replacement for Emergency Services

Barnluren is NOT a replacement for traditional telephone services.

Our service relies on internet connectivity and third-party providers. It should NOT be used as a primary means of contacting emergency services (112).

Children using Barnluren must have access to a mobile phone or landline for emergency situations. We cannot guarantee service availability, call completion, or location accuracy for emergency calls.

Barnluren is designed as an additional communication tool for children, not as their only means of making phone calls.

These terms govern your use of Barnluren, a phone service that gives children their own phone line with parent-controlled allow-lists. By using our service, you agree to these terms.

About the Service

Barnluren provides:

  • A dedicated phone number for your child
  • The ability to make and receive voice calls
  • An allow-list of approved contacts that your child can call
  • A parent dashboard to manage the phone line

The service is provided by Barnluren AB (Org.nr: 559480-7827), a company registered in Sweden.

Who Can Use the Service

Customers must be adults (18+). The service is designed for parents or guardians to set up phone lines for their children. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement.

You are responsible for your child's use of the service and for ensuring they understand how to use it appropriately.

Your Responsibilities

As a Barnluren customer, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate account information
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Supervise your child's use of the service as appropriate
  • Maintain an up-to-date allow-list of approved contacts
  • Ensure your child has access to emergency services through other means (mobile phone or landline)
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes

Acceptable Use

You and your child must not use the service to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse others
  • Make fraudulent or illegal calls
  • Circumvent the allow-list restrictions
  • Resell or redistribute the service
  • Interfere with the service's operation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Billing and Payment

Barnluren is a subscription service with usage-based charges:

  • A monthly subscription fee for the phone line
  • Per-minute charges for calls outside the Barnluren network
  • Calls within the Barnluren network are included

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. Current prices are displayed during signup and on your dashboard.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard or by contacting us. Upon cancellation:

  • Your service will continue until the end of your current billing period
  • Your phone number will be released and cannot be recovered
  • Your account data will be deleted according to our privacy policy

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service may be affected by:

  • Internet connectivity issues
  • Power outages
  • Maintenance and updates
  • Issues with our telephony providers

The service is provided "as is" without guarantees of uptime or call quality.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • We are not liable for failed or dropped calls, including calls to emergency services
  • Our total liability is limited to the subscription fees you've paid in the last 12 months

These limitations do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under Swedish law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Barnluren AB harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

Intellectual Property

"Barnluren" and our logo are trademarks of Barnluren AB. You may not use our trademarks without permission.

Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these terms
  • Your payment fails repeatedly
  • We're required to by law
  • We discontinue the service (with reasonable notice)

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by Swedish law. Any disputes will be resolved in Swedish courts. As a consumer, you also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, and you retain any rights granted by mandatory consumer protection laws.

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hej@barnluren.com. We'll do our best to resolve any issues.

You may also contact the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) or use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.
