No phone ever leaves the cycle. Any Barnluren can begin life as someone's old phone, and when the child outgrows it, it rings on in the next family. Here's how it works, step by step.
We believe in reusing old technology.
A phone built to last fifty years shouldn't end up as e-waste after ten in the attic. Every phone we bring back to life is one new phone that never needs to be made: less mining, less manufacturing, less waste. Better for the planet — and honestly, the old ones are nicer.

1 · The phone in the attic
Sweden has hundreds of thousands of working phones in storage rooms and dresser drawers. They don't have to become e-waste. They need a child.

2 · Bring your phone back to life
Email us a photo and we'll tell you straight away whether we can take it — we only accept landline phones (no mobile phones) that work. Add a few lines about the phone: whose it was, where it lived.

3 · Check & clean
We check the handset, the ringer and the keypad, and clean it properly. No repairs, no replacement parts — the phone stays exactly what it is.

4 · Adopt a phone
A family adopts a specific phone — photo, story and all — and gives it a new home.

5 · The child makes a call
Grandma, Dad at work, their best friend. A number of their own, a real handset, and no internet.

6 · The child outgrows it
The day the child gets a mobile of their own, the phone can ring on for a sibling, a friend's family, or the next child in the cycle — and the loop begins again.

Sending it in is free — we pay the postage. If the phone fits we'll email you a QR code to show at the post office when you drop off the parcel.
